Ictus Records

Labeled as “The creative label for creative music” ICTUS Records was one of the leading independent music labels in the late 70’s, soon gaining worldwide fame for being one of the few labels presenting improvised music and new jazz.

30 years after its initial foundation, ICTUS Records was back in 2004, now established in Los Angeles, with a new catalogue introducing brand new series and titles along with remastered old recordings.

Andrea Centazzo is an extraordinarily talented creative musician whose contribution to contemporary music is original and remarkable. I first met Andrea in 1978 and in the past several decades he has worked tirelessly and intensely as both a composer and a performer. Andrea has worked with many of the world’s greatest musicians, including Steve Lacy, Derek Bailey, Evan Parker and Don Cherry.

He is a very special composer whose integrity is beyond question. Andrea’s compositions are always compelling, brilliantly conceived and realized, and his playing is always open and imaginative. He feels things deeply and sensitively and this quality comes through in his writing and performing.

Andrea has also operated his own label ICTUS Records and his releases have always been of the very highest calibre. In short, Andrea has a remarkable and wide range of experience and knowledge and also has the skills to share his deep wisdom with others.
